Jelly jars are perfect containers for all sorts of products that can be made for gift giving or to resell at craft shows.
There are many attractive ways one can decorate jelly jars. This post illustrates different ways one can decorate their “gifts in a jar” items, no matter if they are cookie and soup ingredients or bath products like salt and sugar scrubs.
This post will be updated as I take photos of new techniques to post. Instead of posting a dozen different posts showing simple techniques, I figured that one lohng post would be best.
Technique One: Embroider a lovely design in felt. You can hand embroider the design, or use an embroidery machine. You can also iron embroidery patches onto felt using patches purchased at any craft supply store.
Once you have embroidered the felt, simply trace the jelly lid on the felt, cut the felt circle and then place the felt on top of the lid before closing the jar.
One can embroider many different things on the felt, designs, slogans and even their business information if desired.

Technique Two: Cut two circle of quilt batting and one 6 inch by 6 inch square piece of cloth. Glue the quilt batting onto the “flat” lid for the jelly jar. Center the fabric over the lid, place this on your jar, then place the hoop on top. As you tighten the lid, pull the cloth gently to remove any wrinkles.
Using pinking shears, trim the fabric around the jar about 1 inch below the lid.
This is a quick and easy method one can use to decorate their gifts in a jar.
If you find a white or gold band unattractive, you can also paint the lids using non-toxic spray paint.
Technique Three: Combine techniques one and two, place the quilt batting on the lid first, then the fabric square and then the circle of embroidered felt. This is extrememly attractive and one of my favorite methods for decorating jelly jars.

More techniques and ideas will be posted later!
